All In A Days Time

Today was one of those days that I wonder if it's going to end - in a good and bad way. This morning I spent about an hour on the phone with the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor's office trying to get Carson surgery scheduled. His surgery to get his tonsils and adenoids removed is set for September 1st. While I was on the phone, the kids were being awfully quiet, but I was thankful (during that time) for some time to actually talk on the phone. After I finally get off the phone, I walk into my room and was told that it snowed. And yes, it's 6:15, and it's still like this.



So, we decided to go outside and play...basically so I didn't have to think/see the toilet paper ALL over my house. They had a blast playing in the hot trampoline.

So what is better on a hot day than a popsicle?
After nap, (AHHH...that was wonderful) Carson and I made some homemade Italian bread and lasagna. He was such a "help."

All in a days work. I am so blessed to get to experience days like these with my two little babies.

Potty in the big boy potty....

This Saturday, Carson decided that he did not want to wear diapers anymore. There has been no turning back. I was planning on waiting a while, since we just got him a new bed. He had other plans. I have been told over and over that it is easy when they are ready, but impossible if they are not. I was not going to push the process, and I am glad I didn't. This potty "training" thing has been simple, because there has not really been any "training" involved. He tells me when he has to go, he holds it when he is busy doing something more important (playing cars, tractors, or reading), and wants to potty on the big boy potty. I couldn't be more proud!

Since Saturday, he has only had two accidents! We even went to church on Sunday in undies, and he didn't have any accidents. We have ventured out of the house twice today, (one to get new undies and once to eat) and no accidents! I can not be more surprised and excited for my BIG BOY!
Oh, and he wants to "stand up like Daddy."

"Uncle Doe-Doe will be proud!"

If you mention the word "golf" in our house, Uncle Doe-Doe (my brother Andrew) is instantly talked about. "Uncle Doe-Doe is playin' golf," Carson says. Tonight we got out the golf clubs and practiced. He was actually pretty darn good! I'm quite impressed with him for being only 2 1/2 years old.

Books and Pigtails

We are lucky to have a library right down the road from us. So close, in fact, that one day we walked there. I haven't ventured out to do that again, since it's been so hot and humid. We will do it again once it cools down some. It's a little library, (the big one is downtown Bloomington) but it is fun for the kids. It has blocks, a train table, puzzles, and computers.

Sydney is finally getting some hair! So, I attempted to put it in pigtails the other day, and it looked so cute! She didn't like it, but I managed to distract her long enough to get a picture of it. I am up for suggestions on how to get her to keep them in! :)

Look Mommy!

"Look Mommy! Stop lights! Cars! That fire truck got busted!" Those are the words that Carson was yelling when he saw he new big boy room! We took out his crib/toddler bed, his changing table, and got a new "big boy bed" for him. He is so excited, because it has cars on it. He did really well sleeping in the twin size bed last night for the first time. I was kind of nervous, because we have been having troubles with bedtime lately. However, last night was a success, (compared to lately) and I think it was because he was excited about his new room.

Now, on to the pictures...

The black on the bottom of the walls is chalkboard paint, so he can write on the walls. He thinks that is pretty awesome!

I made those pillows, which I'm proud of since I just got my sewing machine for Mother's Day. I didn't even know how to thread the machine when I got it. :)

Boom, Bang, and Pop

We had a blast this last weekend celebrating the 4th of July. We were lucky enough to spend both the 3rd and 4th with friends.

Saturday night (the 3rd) we went to the local fireworks with our neighbors/friends Aaron and Erin (yes they are married with the same name). They were fired off at the school, and so being the smart parent's that we are, we parked next to the school playground. :) It was perfect, because for the hour before the sun went down, the kids just played. Carson and Sydney loved them! I was a little worried, because Carson is normally scared of stuff like that. However, he did great, and kept saying, "WOW, that was a great big one," "LOOK Aaron," and "that was a loud one!" Sydney kept pointing at them and saying her, "UHHH UHHH!"






Sunday night (the 4th), the four of us went over to the Wyatt's house. The James and Clampitt families were there also. We had a wonderful dinner and just hung out. The guys had a wonderful time throwing poppers at each other and lighting the fireworks off.
